BBG-SSC-XXXXX-1G

The BBG-SSC-XXXXX-1G is a rugged bulkhead mount system, which provides interfacing between an Ethernet interface and a dual channel Synchro interface. The SSC performs data format conversion of multicast ethernet data into synchro signals. The SSC is factory configurable to customer requirements for easy field installation.

The BBG-SSC-XXXXX-1G (SSC) is a rugged bulkhead mount system that interfaces a Gigabit Ethernet connection with a dual-channel synchro interface. It operates on 115VAC, 60Hz power via connector J1 and receives data messages through Gigabit Ethernet at connector J3.

PC1 processes incoming data and transmits it to the digital-to-synchro converter modules located on its underside. These modules convert the digital angle into synchro signals, driving connected equipment through connectors J4 and J5. A 115VAC synchro system reference is required at connector J2.

Front panel LED indicators provide a quick visual status of the system. The SSC delivers a continuous 4.5VA at 400Hz (1.5VA at 60Hz) to connected synchro loads, with scaling determined by the PC1 configuration switch (S1) during power-on or reset.

The SSC includes a single BBG-7000 printed circuit assembly (PC1), which processes incoming data and transmits it to the digital-to-synchro converter modules on its underside. PC1 functionality is defined by jumper settings and the configuration switch (S1) during power-on or reset.

PC1 features one Ethernet input channel and two synchro output channels. An integrated three-port Gigabit Ethernet switch enables high-bandwidth packet filtering and routing while also providing interfacing and buffering.

During startup or reset, an onboard microcontroller reads the configuration switch and internal memory, configures the network interface, and manages all necessary signals and controls for data acquisition, processing, and output. The digital-to-synchro converter modules convert the received digital angle and drive the attached equipment accordingly.

A USB serial console is available for configuration and debugging.

The SSC was tested to and passed MIL-DIL-901E, MIL-STD-167-1A, MIL-STD-461G, and MIL-DTL-901E. Supports custom message formats including NMEA-0183 and NAVSSI OD19 messaging.
