BBG-1553-TM

The BBG-1553-TM is an electronic interface enabling a computer on a 10/100BaseTX network to communicate with devices on a MIL-STD-1553 data bus. It supports Bus Controller (BC), Remote Terminal (RT), and Bus Monitor (MT) roles, allowing it to function as one or all of these device types within a single bus cycle.

The BBG-1553-TM printed circuit assembly enables ethernet to MIL-STD-1553 communication over the network.

MIL-STD-1553 Interface

MIL-STD-1553 is a military specification defining a digital time-division command/response multiplexed data bus. This dual-redundant, bidirectional, Manchester II encoded data bus offers high bit error reliability and supports up to 31 remote terminals (devices). The BBG-1553-TM can be configured for either direct-coupled or transformer-coupled bus stubs.

10/100BaseTX Network Interface

The BBG-1553-TM communicates via a 10/100BaseTX network interface using Berkeley Sockets. Configuration is managed through a web-based interface, allowing flexible communication setup. The BBG-1553-TM can be configured to establish a connection with the host computer or vice versa.

Serial Interface

The BBG-1553-TM consists of a 1553 base module and a Serial-to-Ethernet daughter card (BBG P/N: BBG-S2ENET2). The base module includes two user-configurable serial ports and a third port for programming. In this configuration:

  • J1 facilitates communication between the 1553 base module and the network interface daughter card.
  • J2 is configurable based on customer requirements.

For custom configurations, please contact us. The network interface card is also available as a standalone product—contact BBG Inc. for details on the BBG-S2ENET2.
